GASKET INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. CLEANING AND INSPECTION

Remove all foreign material and debris from sealing surfaces, screws and nails, nuts and washers. Be careful not to damage the sealing ring and use appropriate tools. Screws, nuts and washers must be inspected for damage or machining residues. Damaged components must be replaced.

2. FLAT SEAL INSTALLATION

Gently insert gasket into the space between the two flanges. The flanges should be aligned without the use of excessive force, and the sealing surfaces must be positioned in a plane relative to each other. Every and the smallest deviation from the ideal positioning must be corrected. Gasket must be well centered with the set screw and installed clean, dry and free of "connecting components" (lubricants).

Important Note: Graphite gaskets in particular must not be wet before and during installation.

3. LUBRICATION AND CLAMPING

Use only specialized or approved lubricants (check operating temperature !!). Apply the lubricant equally to all threads, nuts and bearing surfaces. Ensure that the lubricant does not contaminate the flange or sealant surface. We recommend the use of nitride pads.

Always use a calibrated torque wrench or other clamping device.

The screws are tightened diagonally. After tightening the screws manually (Note: for graphite gaskets, the first screw must never be overtightened) use a torque wrench three times for each screw, gradually increasing the tightening each time (first time: 30%, second time: 60%, third time 100%). Finally, each screw should be checked one after the other clockwise.

It is extremely important that gasket is mounted with sufficient surface pressure!

4. ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS

Never tighten asbestos-free gasket bonded with elastomer after being exposed to high temperatures. Any additional tightening must be performed at room temperature and without pressure.

Once the soft gaskets have been removed, they must not be re-installed!
